Deb McCann, GMAC member and director of Patient Care Services for the Community Hospital Division, received the 2018 American Association of Critical-Care Nurses Circle of Excellence Award.

The Circle of Excellence Award recognizes acute and critical care nurses for all that they do for patients, families and the profession. It honors nurses who are advancing the profession; focusing on excellence and innovation in critical care nursing and patient care; offering an opportunity to participate in meaningful recognition through nurse-to-nurse nominations; and connecting leaders in critical care nursing.

Deb joined Community Memorial Hospital in 1996 as the assistant director of Nursing. Continuing to serve in various leadership capacities, Deb took on Critical Care Services in 2001 and then added leadership of Emergency Services in 2007. From there, Deb was director of Critical Care and Emergency Services for the Community Hospital Division since 2012. Effective Jan. 1, 2017, Deb transitioned into an executive director role of Patient Care Services. Earlier this summer when the Emergency Department at Moorland Reserve Health Center, a department of Community Memorial Hospital, opened, Deb added leadership of that department to her responsibilities as well.

Deb traveled to Boston in May 2018 to receive the Circle of Excellence Award at the 2018 American Association of Critical-Care Nurses National Teaching Institute and Critical Care Exposition.
