Project: Joy in the Workplace Invitation

Acute and Critical Care Nurses are invited to take place in a focus group as part of a research study on Joy in the Workplace.

I am a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) student in the DNP program at Alverno College. As a requirement for completion of my DNP I am conducting a focus group to get your views on factors that affect the ability of hospital acute and critical care registered nurses to experience joy in work.

Studies indicate that joy is positively linked to resiliency and negatively linked to burnout. Given the high burnout rates in the health care work force, I would like to explore more of how joy at work can be fostered for nurses who work in acute and critical care areas.

This is a two-part focus group taking place two weeks apart and lasting 1.5 to 2 hours each. Volunteer participants are asked to be present at both sessions.

The focus group time/s:
Part 1 explores your definition of joy and factors surrounding joy in work Part 2 confirms findings from the first session and is your opportunity to give feedback on the summary of the first session

Date: June 14th 2018 Date: June 29th 2018
Time: 0930 -1130 Time: 0930 -1130
Place: Alverno College, Room AX115 Place: Alverno College, Room AX115

As a token of appreciation for volunteering to participate a Starbucks gift card worth $10 will be given to you at the end of each session, and your name will be part of a drawing for a Target gift card worth $25 if you attend both sessions.

Anticipated risks to participation are no greater than those experienced in ordinary conversation. There is no financial obligation for you to participate in this focus group.

Demographic information will be collected but it will not be shared with the focus group members. Privacy of the group members will be respected.
