For the 31st year in a row, AACN-GMAC will be volunteering at the Briggs and Al's Run/Walk First Aid Tent. Thank you to all who are continuing to volunteer this year and welcome to those who are joining us for the first time! This opportunity to give back provides a service to the run/walk participants and promotes our dedication to nursing!

Help out on September 17th, 2016 because IT MATTERS!

This is an 8K run starting at Marquette University, proceeding through downtown, and ending in the Third Ward.

The race starts at 1030am. Please, arrive at the finish line at 9am located on Chicago St, next to the Italian Community Center. Generally done at noon.
Responsibilities include:
-identify runners in distress over the race course, especially near finish area, transport to medical tent, assess needs and administer basic first aid and support
-administer IV fluids, if needed
-MFD paramedics and Bell EMTs are stationed next to the tent if transport is needed
-medical team consists of MD, RN/BSN, medical students and nursing students
-responsibilities are given per level of training and expertise

Dress: casual, weather appropriate; jeans/shorts are fine, no white coats

Weather: can be highly variable, but is likely to be in the high 60s/low 70s, but will be in the 50s in the morning; it does tend to be cooler by the lake so layers are recommended
- there is an area in the medical tent to store an extra layer if it is not needed

Equipment: stethoscope and watch

Parking: there is free parking in lots H and P on the grounds
- another option for parking is the Italian community Center which is right next to the finish line (corner of Jefferson and Chicago), cost is 5$
